This Friday lucky Tokions can catch the opening of a monthlong exhibit of new work by one of our all-time favorite photographers DAIDO MORIYAMA when his new show “Hawaii” opens on July 27 at the TAKA ISHII GALLERY in Tokyo. Beginning his often-controversial career in the late 1960s, Moriyama has become an icon of Japanese aesthetics with a body of work that takes an unflinching look at the starkness and subtlety of modern Japanese culture. After becoming infatuated with Hawaii, the artist made five trips to the island paradise to capture glimpses of it in his trademark style. The resulting body of work will be displayed in this new show which showcases 70 new images shot between 2004 to 2007. An incredible new book to accompany the show (featuring over 270 images) has also been produced and can be ordered directly from the gallery by clicking HERE
