One of our favorite young artists, Phillipines native LOUIE CORDERO is currently enjoying his first-ever solo exhibition, "Delubyo" (Deluge), at GIANT ROBOT GALLERY in Lost Angels. Featuring large-scale painted canvases and smaller paper and canvas pieces, the show depicts, in the artist's own words, "dead humans mutated into weird zombies like landscapes." Always looking like they've been put through a psychedelic meat grinder, Cordero's paintings combine his outsider-style folk art approach with the graphic influences of Robert Williams, Jim Woodring, and Basil Wolverton with incredibly unique results. It's a perfect fun summer show & more than reason enough to fire up the moped and get your sweaty self out of the crib. HAVE A LOOK:
