Seattle residents got a chance to see a rare assemblage of vintage original artwork by pioneering graphic artist JIM FLORA when "The Curiously Sinister Art of Jim Flora" debuted at the FANTAGRAPHICS flagship store in the city's Georgetown district last Saturday nite. Curated by Flora expert IRWIN CHUSID, whose second retrospective volume dedicated to the late artist debuted recently, the posthumous show surveyed the breadth of the artist's career and his many stylistic forays that characterized his fine art and commercial work for record companies, magazines, and children's books from the 1940's — 1950's. Wildly influential in his own time, Flora went on to influence a new array of modern artists like Tim Biskup and Shag who created their own hybrid interpretations of his organic and geometric styles. The show runs through October 24th, don't miss it. HAVE A LOOK:
