BARRY McGEE RETROSPECTIVE AT THE INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART (ICA) BOSTON
Graffiti hero/street art legend turned bona fide art star Barry McGee has always straddled both worlds precariously, but with his massive scale new mid-career retrospective at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Boston that opened on Saturday, there should be no doubt as to his status as a Capital “A” Art World heavyweight. Serving as a 20-year chronological survey of the artist’s oeuvre, the show features more than 30 significant pieces from the artist’s multifaceted career, including installations, paintings, drawings, and photographs.
