To celebrate the enduring influence of downtown NYC art star Jean-Michel Basquiat and the record-setting auction of his seminal 1982 painting, "Dustheads" last night for $49 million USD as part of their Post-War & Contemporary Evening Sale, Christie's set out to uncover untold stories of the famously enigmatic painter in a new video series that kicks off in conversation with his artist friends Toxic, and Al Diaz, Basquiat's SAMO graffiti crew partner. The auction house also created an accompanying infographic that nicely brings uninitiated fans quickly up to speed on the artist's life & times.
