Opening last week in the unlikely location of Kansas City, Missouri was the ambigiously-titled OK, I'll Rename It, featuring new work by KAWS, Todd James, Tomoo Gokita, and Erik Parker at the venerable Bill Brady Gallery. Showing together for the first time—and in the Midwest, no less—the quartet of super friends represent the vanguard of a new movement of cartoon-based painting, each with a distinctive, yet complementary style that will doubtless be the subject of future museum retrospectives on the zeitgeist of current times.
