The summer of 2016 belongs to KAWS. Hot on the heels of his two concurrent shows in Switzerland and South Korea, massive global Uniqlo product drop, and luxe Mira Mikati & Nancy Gonzalez collaborations, the Pop Art star has just unveiled his newest large-scale sculpture at the Central Embassy shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. Titled BFF, the trippy new character looks like Grover ate a Companion, topped off with the eyes & nose of Elmo. Of course, being a new parent, the constant Sesame Street reruns around the studio are the likely source of inspiration for the mashup, which also manifests itself in a—you guessed it—new line of merch depicting the fuzzy character, from umbrellas and T-shirts to plush toys.
