This week, venerable French couture house Chanel celebrated the merger of tech & fashion by presenting The Data Center as their Spring-Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear runway show. Hosted at Paris’ Grand Palais on October 4th, the grandiose presentation saw brand creative director Karl Lagerfeld taking a page from Daft Punk (though not as visually effective), and the Google’s endless server farms to create a tech backdrop for the brand’s trademark women’s suits and low cut dresses. When questioned about his inspiration, the 83-year-old Lagerfeld, told Reuters, “Imagine your life without the telephone and the next step will be artificial intelligence and robots… This is technology.
