OZ///CYCLE KILLERS///BEHIND THE SCENES WITH LANCE ARMSTRONG AT THE TOUR DOWN UNDER

laoz11.jpg Supertouch homegirl LIZ KRUETZ spent the last couple weeks photographing LANCE ARMSTRONG's every move as he competed in his first race as a born-again professional cyclist in Australia's overheated TOUR DOWN UNDER. With an all access pass to the nittiest, and far more often than one might expect, grittiest (also grimiest, hairiest, and smelliest) look at the iron man's grueling routine, she captured rare images of the cancer crusader from atop his Team Astana bike barreling down hills at 50+ mph, to visiting pediatric cancer patients—all in the name of his LIVESTRONG foundation. Todd James' hot pink war machine...

Melbourne's uninvitingly named hotspot DON'T COME GALLERY is currently playing host to "Disaster & Double Disaster," a show of new paintings by NYC's resident cartoon agitator TODD JAMES (aka: REAS) that opened its doors to a dedicated crowd of fanboys and girls last weekend. Continuing his brightly-colored critique of the American corporate war machine, James has created an extended series of medium sized pieces starring his familiar array of tanks, girls, bombs, battleships, and fighter jets, all joyfully beating the crap out of one another with plenty of blood spilled to show for it. Hopefully, with Obama officially behind the desk, REAS' days of wartime inspiration will be numbered, but in the meantime, he's in like Halliburton, mining the current US-led aggression for all the visual inspiration its worth. While the show is nearly sold out, four beautifully executed limited-edition prints are available for sale from Don't Come while they last. HAVE A LOOK: Read More

Mickey on extended hiatus from "The Happiest Place on Earth"...

Following what seems to be a realistic pledge by President Elect BARACK OBAMA to close the Guantanamo Bay military prison camp immediately after taking office in 2009, we thought it was the perfect time to present Australian artist COLIN SUGGETT's new sculpture "The Mickey," that addresses the issues of the documented torture there with some decidedly dark Pop overtones.
