UFC's Dana White, OG Joan Jett, and Don Everlast...

UFC impresario DANA WHITE threw an exclusive little party for 30 lucky heads (including the always-banging MANDY MOORE & the ever-dangerous CHUCK "THE ICEMAN" LIDDELL) at Hollywood's VIPER ROOM on Wednesday where none other than legendary Runaway JOAN JETT rocked the house like she was 21 and just off the bus from nowheresville, USA. Of course, our man on the scene and official UFC correspondent EVERLAST, aka: Mr White, aka: Whitey Ford, was in the mix and popped a few flix. HAVE A LOOK:

Roger Waters' Slick & Danny Boy-designed graffiti pig heads off to slaughter...

Checking in on the road home from COACHELLA, here's a quick look at the obligatory flying “Dark Side of the Pig" balloon painted by Supertouch buddies SLICK & DANNY BOY bearing slogans like "Don't Be Led to the Slaughter," "No Blood For Oil," and "Don't Build Walls," that floated through ROGER WATERS' moonlite Floyd set...

UPDATE: $10,000 REWARD FOR LOST PIG:
After being released during Waters' Coachella-closing set Sunday nite, it seems the pig du jour floated off into the horizon, never to be reclaimed. Now, Coachella festival organizer Bill Fold has offered a $10K reward for the graffiti'd oinker's return: "A pig got loose last night," said Fold, "We really like him and want him back.... It's a very emotional time for us." Anyone with information of the piggy's whereabouts or in possession of a convincing bootleg & a need for $10K can contact lostpig@coachella.com...

Optimus Prime moonlights at Cirque du Soleil...

Aside from a lot of neo hippie-ish little installations throughout the festival grounds, the massive three-day concert that is COACHELLA offered little in the way of compelling artwork save for MIKE ROSS' monumental "Big Rig Jig." Constructed from two real semi rigs, the sculpture literally dominated the skyline, inadvertently paying homage to the legion of surly truck drivers who hauled in the event's equipment & musicians through 100+ degree temps...

Ozzy's mentor...

At this point it's beyond a foregone conclusion that the upcoming (May 2nd) IRON MAN movie— like nearly every comic book movie that came before it—will suck hard, but before our minds are tainted by the surely horrific storyline and direction, let's take a moment to dig how cool these new unpainted armor suits are. LONDON///STREET LIFE///BANKSY’S BIGGEST EVER…

Banksy's tribute to the watchers...

Somehow, against all odds, SIR BANKSY just keeps going bigger and never gets caught. His newest piece which debuted this week in London—a three-story parody on London's closed caption TV network that constantly surveys the city's residents as they go about their daily lives—was erected ADJACENT to one of the cameras in question, and still he roams free...

From the DAILY MAIL:
"Banksy pulled off an audacious stunt to produce what is believed to be his biggest work yet in central London. The secretive graffiti artist managed to erect three storeys of scaffolding behind a security fence despite being watched by a CCTV camera. Then, during darkness and hidden behind a sheet of polythene, he painted this comment on 'Big Brother' society. (read more)"

NYC///FALLEN HEROES: JOHN COPELAND…

The book of John, Vol I...

Here at Supertouch we were incredibly disheartened to hear that one of our favorite artists, JOHN COPELAND had suffered a serious motorcycle crash last month that's left him in the hospital for an extended stay while he recuperates from a host of severe injuries. Luckily, our man is expected to make a full recovery but time spent in the hospital is time wasted when you've got a big gallery show coming up in the Fall. In the meantime, have a look at his work, which includes drawings, large-scale paintings, and series of phenomenally illustrated personal journals, and website to discover one of Brooklyn's hidden talents. Besides drawing and painting, Johnnie can build a mean bike too, it's just riding them that causes problems. HAVE A LOOK: Read More

LONDON///CHARLIE KRAFFT TAKES STOLEN SPACE BY FORCE…

"Artists Rifles Uzi"

Lucky Londoners have the rare chance to see an incredible show of new work by one of Supertouch's favorite artists, CHARLES KRAFFT, now on display at East End hotspot STOLEN SPACE. Renowned for his sublime and transgressive work in the delicate medium of porcelain, the Seattle-based artist learned the traditional art of Delftware—a form of blue and white painted pottery originating in the Netherlands in the 16th Century—from a group of modern masters and quickly proceeded to bring his own trademark brand of subversive imagery to the medium with a series he calls “Disasterware." Now his innovative array of machine guns, grenades, and other implements of war, peace, and Pop Culture, serve as astute and insightful icons of fine art in a medium otherwise reserved for tourist trinkets and souvenir fodder. LONDON///MORE BANKSY BOMBS…

September 10, 2007  |  art, Banksy, Cool Shit, Graffiti, London, News, Street Art  |  Comments Off

bankscatt.jpg

In London BANKSY gossip travels about as fast as a Posh & Becks sighting (used to). It's no surprise that these three new bombs attributed to Banksy around central London have got local heads whipping out their cameras. The real question is, with the city of London taking active measures to protect Banksy's "vandalism" in the name of art & commerce, how subversive are these anymore?...
