Miami’s punk contingent went sleepless last week while the KILL YOUR IDOLS/PUNK IS EVERYTHING installation, sponsored by CONVERSE, “with love,” shook ART BASEL. A poignant tribute to the lasting vitality of underground punk culture, the exhibition was curated by author, artist, and punk historian BRYAN RAY TURCOTTE, whose books “Fucked Up and Photocopied” and the newly-published “Punk is Dead, Punk is Everything” are virtual textbooks of punk art over the years. Classic punk flyer imagery from Turcotte’s books formed the foundation of the exhibition’s visuals (and the exhibition’s tear-away wallpaper) and was augmented by a show of original photographs by lenswoman EILEEN POLK who captured early visions of everyone from the Dead Boys and The Clash, to The Misfits and The Ramones, in her 30+ year career. Nightly entertainment in the form of live music by punk upstarts like THE BRUTAL KNIGHTS, MATT & KIM, NODZZZ, CAUSTIC CHRIST, SEX/VID, and HEX DISPENSERS, to name a few kept the crowd sweaty till morning, while old school Chuck Taylor product tosses kept everyone’s feet on the ground. GALLERY on October 11, Supertouch's own DARREN "DR" ROMANELLI (aka: DRx) caught up with the nomadic artist to get the real story on the last ten years of artwork that constitutes the show and a look at what's on his horizon in 2009.Read More
As we check in with Supertouch's own DARREN "DR" ROMANELLI and trusty sidekick NATHAN "NACHOS CABRONES" CABRERA on their last day out in the great wide open of Alaska we catch a glimpse of ambiguously gay duo fishing, whitewater rafting and beating a hasty retreat from surly local miners who don't much like the look of streetwear-wearing, fancy camera toting big city folk. The highlight of the trip so far? The pristine, miraculously original daily driver Model-A still roaming the icy backcountry like 4 wheel drive had never been invented. HAVE A LOOK: Read More
Buried deep in the great white north to photograph his upcoming new collaborative collection with SF-based sneaker spot HUF (more on that soon), Supertouch’s own DARREN “DR” ROMANELLI (with legendary artist & taxidermy addict NATHAN "NACHOS CABRONES" CABRERA in tow) has now piloted a helicopter to a remote Alaskan dog sledding village where the pair—particularly señor Cabrones—look and smell a lot like dinner to the local inhabitants. Will they make it out alive? Will the duo crash & burn in a two seater helicopter that looks more like a remote control toy than a gasoline powered vehicle? Will Romanelli come back planning a thermal underwear streetwear line? Only time will tell. Stay tuned loyal readers. HAVE A LOOK: Read More
Lost in the great white north to photograph his upcoming new collaborative collection with SF-based sneaker spot HUF (more on that soon), Supertouch's own DARREN "DR" ROMANELLI (with legendary artist & taxidermy addict NACHOS CABRONES in tow) has just begun a week-long residency in the backwoods of Alaska that just might get his ass eaten by the local large-sized wildlife. Luckily, he's got a good camera with him so the blood should look extra real. HAVE A LOOK: Read More

Let's just hope it's weatherproof enough to withstand the upcoming Purple Reign...
