Looks like being considered a Muslim is the least of Barack's 99 problems now...

It seems that Supertouch's own RON ENGLISH can't catch a break. After gifting the residents of Boston's South End with a 100 foot long rainbow "Abraham Obama" wheatpaste poster mural depicting the image of presidential hopeful BARACK OBAMA melded with the portrait of America's 16th president, the city's residents are crying for its removal. Not on political or even aesthetic grounds—though the installation has polarized viewers on both topics—but for the hundreds of illegal posters that have since popped up on walls around the city. Installed legally to commemorate the opening of Boston's GALLERY XIV political art show "A Politic," it seems our resident Popagandist made plentiful black & white copies of his hybrid portrait available free of charge to the show's attendees who have since taken it upon themselves to plaster the images on nearly every flat vertical surface around town. With the gallery fielding angry calls from the Mayor's office and MSNBC reporting nationally on the event, it seems young Abe's days might be numbered. Enjoy it while you can. HAVE A LOOK: Read More

Presumptive "First Artist" and official Minister of Propaganda to Obama Shepard Fairey canonizes the big guy...

Proving definitively that you can indeed have an art show about anything these days, some of our favorite artists packed up their fingerpaints and #2 pencils and headed out to Denver this week where the "Manifest Hope" art show set up camp during the DNC in honor of our presumptive Democratic savior, BARACK OBAMA. Including original works by over 100 artists including SHEPARD FAIREY, RON ENGLISH, MAYA HAYUK, THE DATE FARMERS, DAVE CHOE, SAM FLORES, EMEK, CHRIS PASTRAS, EVAN HEACOX, ANDY HOWELL, and GARY BASEMAN, the show featured some amazing, pretty amazing, not-so-amazing, kinda crappy, and lotsa downright bad art about Obama. But hey, unlike his "honorable" Republican opponent, at least Barry's face looks good on a canvas, regardless of how poorly its rendered. Needless to say, the ANDENKEN GALLERY was the after-hours place to be for Denver-bound hipsters and young politicos looking to score with an outta town downtown chick at the four day "anything goes" event. The show was not without its share of female celeb sightings, either, as comedian SARAH SILVERMAN stopped in to do a stand-up set, and actress/singer ZOOEY DESCHANEL gave an impromptu concert with secret crush Shepard Fairey's Obama painting as a backdrop. McSupersized and Banksy had a daughter and she's quite lovely...

Supertouch's own RON ENGLISH was out in London this past weekend in full force at BANKSY's first public stencil art convention, THE CANS FESTIVAL, where his alter ego McSUPERSIZED tagged along to entertain the kids. While in town Ron managed to liberate a few billboards with his signature brand of "Popaganda," and attend the opening of his joint art exhibition "The Adam & Ron Show" co-starring British painter ADAM NEATE at the venerable ELMS LESTERS PAINTING ROOMS where the queue of punters lined up to get a look at the art was nearly as long as the one to get into the Cans Fest. The elder statesman Futura keeps it fresh to death...

The crowded corridor of art commerce that is NYC's Chelsea district can count another champion of the underground among its ranks with the debut of JOSHUA LINER's eponymous gallery last week. Featuring a star-studded and opening show with work by over 25 artists including Futura, Shawn Barber, Mark Dean Veca, Crash One, Kris Kuksi, Mike Davis, Ron English, Robert Hardgrave, Naoto Hattori, Kenji Hirata, Jessica Joslin, Josh Keyes, Koralie, David Choong Lee, Travis Louie, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Chris Mendoza, Aiko Nakagawa, Greg Simkins, Damon Soule, Stash, and Oliver Vernon to name a few, there was no lack of eye candy on the gallery's sprawling white walls to keep the masses enthralled.
